In 2002, Martin was the only driver to compete in BOTH the JWRC and PWRC competing in no fewer than 12 WRC events.

Great to be involved with the JWRC, a very competitive class in the WRC. This involved driving a Lancer Evo 6 & 7 prepared by David Sutton Cars.

Martin had some good results but DNF in Cyprus and Finland. Netting 6th in championship after a strong showing in Corsica and NZ.

With the contrast of driving the S1600 Puma and the GP N Mitsubishi on 12 rounds of the WRC in 2002. Martin gained a vast amount of experience both about the events and different driving styles.

This year has seen big changes in the David Sutton Cars team. A move to Prodrive built Subaru Impreza’s. Both Martin & team mate ex-world champion Stig Blomqvist were impressed by the Subaru’s performance.

Last year Martin rolled a new Evo 7 on the 1st stage (oooops!!). Also it was the sponsor’s birthday!! So the team will be looking for better fortunes in 2003.
